AI vs Human

On the evening of February 9 2023, the multilingual WebCrow crossword solver faced off against human in live and online session as part of the WAICF 2023, the World AI Cannes Festival. Participants had the chance to try challenging WebCrow on French Crosswords puzzle, American Crosswords puzzle or Italian Crosswords puzzle!
The WebCrow artificial intelligence software, developed by the University of Siena in collaboration with expert.ai, is now capable to tackle French Crosswords puzzle thanks to the collaboration of 3iA Côte-d’Azur.

Challenge details
At around 1:45pm CET (7:45am ET) the challenge took place, which involved solving 3 crosswords:
- a demo crossword puzzle for becoming familiar with the gaming platform
- a crossword puzzle valid for the ranking: medium/easy difficulty
- a crossword puzzle valid for the ranking: medium/hard difficulty
Participant could choose the language: French, American or Italian!
The demo crossword puzzle had 5 minutes resolution time limit. No score was assigned and it did not contribute to the ranking.
The other two crossword puzzles were valid for the ranking and they had will a maximum resolution time limit of 15 / 20 minutes.
The challenge officially closed at 2:35 pm CET (8:35 am ET).
